Agent Hints Murray Will Not Part With Mauresmo

The agent of Andy Murray has hinted that the player would not part ways with his current coach Amelie Mauresmo despite having a bit of a dreadful grass court season.

Murray has taken part in a couple of tournaments since Mauresmo’s appointment i.e. the AEGON international and the Wimbledon Championships. His performance in both those tournaments has been mediocre.

He couldn’t even get to the Round of 4 in Wimbledon as he suffered defeat at the hands of Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria in the quarter finals. It was the Scot’s worst outing at the All England Club in the last 5 years.

After that defeat, the rumours were circulating that the association of Murray and Mauresmo would come to an end, but, it doesn’t seem to be the case now.

If the fresh reports are to be believed, Murray is looking to continue working with the former French player at least for a few more months and he would be giving her a contract extension pretty soon.

Mauresmo was initially signed up only for a few weeks on a trial basis. Murray had said that he would be evaluating her performance as coach after the Wimbledon Championships.

The experts have different opinions on this issue. There are a few who think that Murray should try and find a good male coach for himself, while, the others are of the opinion that Mauresmo deserves a bit more time.

Meanwhile, the exit from the Wimbledon quarter finals has seen Murray drift down to the 10th position in the World rankings.

Murray’s highest world ranking so far in his career is no. 2 which he had achieved in 2009. Now, to get back to that position, he will surely have to do a lot of hard work.

Robin Soderling, the only one to beat Nadal in French Open Semi in 2009

An epic day when Soderling beat Nadal in four sets to reach the finals of French Open in 2009 still lingers in one’s mind as he became famous for outclassing Nadal and proving to be his nemesis that too in his favorite ground.

For almost half of the decade Soderling was the best men in tennis who seemed invincible to be beaten. He moved to 4th rank which was his highest. This year is special because it brings back the memories attached with Soderling and Nadal rivalry as it is the 5th anniversary of the historical day when Soderling outclassed Nadal.

It still is hailed as the titanic upset in the history of world tennis. After 2011 he has been missing from the action due to injuries but he still has sights of making a comeback as he has not announced his retirement from world class tennis. He is recovering from his injuries by taking proper rest and care at home. Soderling is very blunt as he sincerely is making an effort to make a comeback. In an interview to a reputed magazine he stated that he cannot imagine his life without the tennis court. He has also trying his hand at developing handmade tennis ball as this activity is fun for him.

He is feeling positive and confident about making a comeback with enthusiasm. Even he recollects his match with Nadal when he beat him at his den. But he is taking one day at a time during his rest period. He is also going in for fishing and lot of other activities but clearly his fans want him to see him roaring back into the tennis court with a bang.

Djokovic Wins Roma Masters

Novak Djokovic has won the Roma Masters tennis tournament. He defeated the Spanish superstar Rafael Nadal in the final match yesterday and achieved glory. His win was more remarkable because he got that after getting trailed by one set. The final score line of the match was 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the favour of Djokovic.

Nadal was probably everybody’s favourite in this match because of the nature of the surface, but, Djokovic who is a place behind Nadal in the world rankings showed his character and ended up proving people wrong.

In the post match interview, the Serbian said, “Whenever you turn up against such a great player, you have a tough task in your hands. Luckily, I ended up on the right side today and I want to dedicate this win to the people of my country who are going through some hard time at the moment.”

Nadal, on the other hand, was not looking as happy, but, he admitted the fact that too many matches in short duration might have exhausted him.

The world no. 1 said, “It’s been difficult few days. May be, I played too many matches back to back, but, you are supposed to do that as a professional player. So, no excuses, Novak played better and thus, he won.”

This win over Nadal has now made Djokovic the red hot favourite for the French Open which is going to start in a few days’ time. The 26 years old Serbian international has improved his clay court game a lot in the recent times and one should not be surprised if he goes all the way at Roland Garros as well.

Djokovic has not won even one French Open singles title in his career so far.
