Novak Djokovic finds his form better than ever
Novak Djokovic reckons his form at the moment is better than it ever has been.
Djokovic added another feather to his cap yesterday as he trumped the no. 2 player in the world, Roger Federer, in the title match of BNP Paribas Open.
It was the 4th time that Djokovic claimed the title at Indian Wells.
With this win, Djokovic also inched closer to Federer in head to head record.
Djokovic would certainly not have been over confident making his way into the clash as he had been beaten comprehensively by Federer in the previous two meetings.
But, he would have got a lot of confidence in the first set. He clearly dominated it with some exceptional shot-making skills, but, there was no way his wily opponent was going to throw in the towel so easily.
The following set was a fierce one and it got much closer. Finally, Federer clinched it in the tie break and the game seemed to be turning there.
The momentum was favouring Federer when the decider kicked off, but, Djokovic showed that he was not at the top of the World rankings for no reason.
It was clinical from the Serb at the end as he kept taking points one after another and the third set was finished sooner that one would have thought.
It was 6-2 Djokovic and the match was over.
In the post match interview, Djokovic was absolutely joyous and why he shouldn’t be. He had been brilliant in the showdown.
In the words of the 27-year old, “I think I am playing better than I have ever had on the professional tour. I want to cling on to this top ranking, which I have achieved with my hard work, as long as possible.”
